Job Description
Overview

Robert Walters is delighted to be partnering with a well-established and innovative engineering firm specialising in bespoke electrical control systems and automation solutions. Our client is seeking a Design & Production Engineer to join their growing team and play a key role in delivering high-quality, customer-specific products. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced engineer to work in a dynamic environment where design precision, manufacturing efficiency, and technical excellence are paramount.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain Bills of Materials (BoMs) to support accurate procurement and production planning.
  • Prepare and manage technical documentation, manufacturing instructions, and compliance files.
  • Collaborate closely with procurement, production, and quality teams to ensure design intent is clearly communicated and executed.
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities, ensuring seamless transition from concept to manufacture.
  • Participate in internal design reviews, project meetings, and customer-facing discussions.
  • Ensure designs comply with relevant standards including ISO 9001, UL508A, and EN60204.
Candidate Profile
  • HNC/ONC in Electrical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar design/production engineering role.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Excellent communication skills across internal teams, suppliers, and customers.
  • Proven experience in design for manufacture within a fast-paced production environment.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, E-Plan, Pro-E, and Corel Draw.
  • Experience in PLC programming for automated testing.
  • Background in control panel design and assembly.
  • Ability to contribute to team leadership and mentoring.
  • Experience in preparing quotations and technical estimates.
