Design & Delivery Team Manager (IDD)
Salary - up to £55,840 + car allowance - depending on experience
Location: Darlington
About the role
We have an exciting new opportunity for a Team Manager to join our Integrated Design & Delivery (IDD) team. In this role, you will lead and manage a team of installation technicians and contractors across various disciplines (MEICA) in their activities to survey, design, procure, and deliver low complexity/short duration asset replacement/enhancement projects across the water, wastewater, and commercial sectors.
The IDD team is expanding to meet increased capital investment, and we plan to enhance support to our framework partners. You will lead this transformation, ensuring the NWL safety-focused culture is embedded and strengthened within the teams.
You will be responsible for managing people and resources, maintaining the team's annual delivery plan, and phasing workload considering resource availability, procurement timelines, stakeholder requirements, and opportunities to group tasks geographically or by work type.
You will also oversee the team's operating budget, ensuring accurate financial allocations to capital projects, and review performance indicators to support continuous improvement.
We seek someone with excellent team-building skills, a strong focus on performance management and engagement, and the ability to foster an open, positive working environment that attracts talent.
About you
You should have experience leading a multidisciplinary engineering team or demonstrate relevant leadership behaviors, with confidence working with contract stakeholders across the business.
Strong organizational and planning skills are essential, including the ability to develop project plans, allocate resources, and oversee delivery phases.
Practical experience in a technical role is necessary to support your team effectively.
A strong Health and Safety ethic is vital, and knowledge of CDM regulations would be advantageous.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with teamwork, are required. Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, MS Project) is desirable but can be developed with support.
A full UK driving license is mandatory.
At Northumbrian Water/Essex & Suffolk Water, we value Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity. We encourage applications from all underrepresented groups to reflect our community.
(Interviews will be face-to-face on Tuesday 24th June, in smart casual attire)
