Job Description
Commodity Derivatives Consultant (Techno-Functional) Europe (Remote with Occasional Travel) Part-Time Contract Engagement Overview

EuroCom Trading Consultant is seeking multiple (2+) experienced Commodity Derivatives Consultants to support a European commodity derivatives project. This is a part-time contract engagement (3-5 days per week) for an initial 6-8 weeks, starting ASAP, with potential extension into the new year. The work is primarily remote (WFH) with occasional travel within Europe as needed; business travel costs are covered.

Role Summary

You will join a fast-moving delivery team supporting front-to-back commodity derivatives work across process, technology, people/change, and data. This is a techno-functional role (not purely functional or purely technical): you will translate business needs into executable delivery, produce clear artifacts, support implementation and testing activities, and help stakeholders make progress toward year-end project goals under time pressure and ambiguity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver front-to-back project support across commodity derivatives lifecycle processes, spanning business analysis through delivery execution and stakeholder alignment.
  • Elicit, structure, and document requirements in ambiguous environments, producing clear outputs (workflows, user stories, acceptance criteria, decision logs).
  • Map current-state and target-state processes, identifying gaps, dependencies, and pragmatic options to meet year-end milestones.
  • Support techno-functional delivery activities, coordinating between business stakeholders and delivery resources to ensure workable solutions and timely decisions.
  • Drive data and analysis tasks needed for delivery (e.g., issue triage, reconciliations support, exception analysis, reporting inputs) with a structured, hypothesis-driven approach.
  • Contribute to testing and rollout readiness, including UAT planning/support, defect triage, retest coordination, and sign-off support.
  • Identify and communicate risks, controls considerations, and delivery trade-offs clearly, escalating early and proposing actionable mitigations.
  • Collaborate closely with the day-to-day lead (senior trading SME/consultant) and maintain proactive, credible communication with stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications (Must-Have)
  • Consulting experience with evidence of structured delivery on complex projects (requirements to implementation/testing support).
  • Project delivery experience in commodity trading and/or commodity derivatives environments.
  • Strong understanding of commodity trading concepts and front-to-back workflows (end-to-end exposure across the lifecycle).
  • Techno-functional capability: ability to operate across business process, data/analysis, and delivery execution rather than specializing in only one area.
  • Excellent listening and communication skills, including the ability to work credibly with senior stakeholders and drive clarity from ambiguity.
  • Strong analytical skills and disciplined problem-solving approach; able to prioritize and deliver under tight timelines.
  • Professional working proficiency in English.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Have)
  • Cross-commodity derivatives exposure across multiple products/markets and lifecycle touchpoints.
  • Experience working in regulated environments and/or with risk and controls considerations in trading contexts.
  • Experience supporting change management elements (people/process adoption) alongside technology and data work.
What Success Looks Like
  • First days: Builds trust quickly through strong listening, structured thinking, and clear communication; produces tangible outputs (notes, process maps, requirement artifacts, analysis) and integrates smoothly with the senior trading lead.
  • Weeks 1-8: Drives meaningful progress toward year-end project goals by clarifying requirements, unblocking stakeholders, improving delivery cadence, and supporting testing/readiness activities.
  • Ongoing/extension: Maintains dependable execution, proactively manages risks and dependencies, and continues to deliver high-quality artifacts and outcomes with minimal supervision.
Selection Criteria (How You'll Be Evaluated)
  • Evidence of shipping outcomes in prior consulting/project roles (clear examples and artifacts preferred).
  • Ability to execute quickly with high ownership in ambiguous, high-stakes environments.
  • Strength of techno-functional judgment across process, data, and delivery execution.
  • Stakeholder management quality, including proactive updates, constructive challenge, and reliability.
  • Analytical rigor and credibility with senior trading stakeholders.
Work Arrangement
  • Location: Anywhere in Europe.
  • Working model: Remote (WFH) with occasional travel within Europe.
  • Time commitment: Part-time, 3-5 days per week.
  • Duration: Initial 6-8 weeks, extension possible.
