Job Title: Deputy Support Manager

Location: Aston-on-Trent, South Derbyshire

Contract: Full Time

Hours: 39 hours per week

Salary: £30,856.62 per year

Annual Leave entitlement: 33 days inclusive of bank holidays

Additional Information: Driver required with full licence and own transport

At the heart of our client beliefs is that people with a learning disability should be leaders in society. We are looking for a Deputy Support Manager to assist the Support Manager in leading teams, to deliver person-centered support that meets regulatory, contractual, and organisational requirements.

As a Deputy Support Manager you will mentor teams, coach support staff and drive continuous improvement. You will ensure that practice leadership is developed, recognised and reflected in all we do as you work on shift as part of the working rota enabling you to act as a role model of best practice. You will support people to design their support plans, assist with rota management, help maintain records, address concerns, conduct audits, and deputise for the Support Manager when needed. At all times aim to empower individuals, promote inclusion, rights & independence, whilst adhering to policies and acting as an ambassador for the company.

Skills & Experience
  • Relevant Health and Social Care qualification at Level 3 or above (England) or SCQF 7 or above (Scotland).
  • Proven experience supporting people with learning disabilities.
  • Leadership or coaching experience is desirable.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding, health and safety, and care regulations.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and decision making skills.
  • Confidence in using digital systems (e.g. Excel, care planning software).
  • Flexible working hours, willingness to travel locally and work across multiple locations.
Key Responsibilities and Deliverables
  • To always embody Thera's vision in your work, particularly in supporting people to design their support and increasingly have control in their lives ensuring their rights are upheld.
  • Work alongside the people we support to develop and implement support plans and documentation that supports high quality outcomes for people.
  • Contribute to ensuring that support plans and risk assessments are reviewed, completed, accurate and up to date in line with the review periods within policy.
  • Respond to all concerns relating to the people we support including health, wellbeing, safety, and safeguarding.
  • Demonstrate to others a significant understanding of the needs of people with learning disabilities while promoting best practice.
  • To promote and coach in 'Person Centred Active Support' for all people supported to allow for skills development and improved quality of life.
  • Aid in the effective and efficient delivery of the rota by matching and deploying staff in line with people's individual wishes, requirements and contracts.
  • Where delegated plan, prepare, facilitate, and record supervision meetings supporting the personal and professional development of individuals in line with policy and as a minimum, quarterly.
  • Identify learning and development requirements for self and team ensuring regulatory compliance of training requirements.
  • Work alongside the Support Manager to review, monitor and address staff and team performance and people management processes in line with policies and procedures including sickness and absence.
  • Assist the Support Manager to ensure that the outcomes of audits and observations are completed, including completing and submitting monthly monitoring information as required.
  • Assist the Support Manager in all aspects of health and safety.
  • To work on shift as part of the working rota (This is not a desk job).
