Pay Rates: £27.81 - £36.40 per hour Umbrella Rate

Information the Role

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Deputy Childcare & Children Centre Services Manager to join a busy Early Help & Prevention service within a local authority setting.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated childcare professional with strong leadership experience within Early Years, Nursery or Children Centre services.

About the Role

Working closely with the Executive Head of Childcare Services, you will play a key role in the day-to-day management of childcare services across local authority-maintained nursery provisions, ensuring the delivery of high-quality early education and childcare services.

The successful candidate will support the leadership and operational management of the centres and deputise for senior management when required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the management and daily operation of childcare and children centre services
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with Ofsted requirements and safeguarding standards
  • Lead, supervise and support childcare staff including performance management and mentoring
  • Monitor children's development and support planning for next steps in learning
  • Support budget monitoring and administration processes
  • Lead on sickness monitoring procedures in line with council policies
  • Support safeguarding procedures and child welfare responsibilities
  • Manage admissions and support vulnerable children accessing free entitlement places
  • Contribute to self-evaluation and Nursery Development Plans
  • Work flexibly across multiple sites within the borough when required

Essential Requirements:

  • Experience working within an Early Years or Childcare setting
  • Knowledge of Ofsted inspections and childcare regulations
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and child development
  • Knowledge of EYFS, SEN Code of Practice and Children Act legislation
  • Experience supervising or leading staff teams
  • Strong communication, conflict resolution and organisational skills
  • IT skills including Microsoft Office and database systems
  • A current enhanced DBS registered on the update service.
  • Right to Work in the UK- No restrictions
