Deputy Manager - Children's Residential Home

Location: Rugby
Salary: £44,064-£50,852 per annum, including attendance allowance
Base salary: £42,664-£49,452 per annum
Contract: Full-time, permanent
Service: Children's residential care - SEMH

The Opportunity

Our client is seeking a committed and experienced Deputy Manager to join one of its residential children's homes supporting young people with social, emotional and mental health needs.

As Deputy Manager, you will play an important role in creating a safe, stable and nurturing home in which young people feel secure, supported and motivated. You will assist with the daily management of the service, lead and develop the staff team and help young people achieve meaningful, lasting outcomes.

The homes benefit from a holistic and multidisciplinary approach. Psychologists, Occupational Therapists and other clinical professionals work alongside the residential teams to ensure each young person receives coordinated support that reflects their individual developmental needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supporting the Registered Manager with the effective day-to-day operation of the home
  • Leading shifts and maintaining high standards of care and safeguarding
  • Supporting and developing the residential care team
  • Creating a safe, structured and nurturing home environment
  • Ensuring care plans and risk assessments are understood and implemented
  • Promoting positive relationships and therapeutic approaches
  • Supporting young people through challenging situations
  • Maintaining accurate records and regulatory documentation
  • Contributing to staff supervision, training and performance development
  • Working collaboratively with education, clinical and external professionals
  • Ensuring the home operates in accordance with relevant regulations and organisational standards
  • Deputising for the Registered Manager when required
About You

You will be a committed and enthusiastic leader with a genuine passion for improving the lives of children and young people.

Applicants must have:

  • A minimum of two years' experience within residential childcare
  • Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership capacity
  • A Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare for England
  • Strong safeguarding knowledge
  • The ability to lead, motivate and support a staff team
  • A resilient, compassionate and child centred approach
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • A full UK driving licence held for at least 12 months

A Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management is desirable. Our client can provide support to complete this qualification where required.

Salary and Benefits

The position offers a base salary of £42,664-£49,452 per annum, depending on experience, plus an attendance allowance of up to £1,400 per year. This provides potential total earnings of £44,064-£50,852 per annum.
