Role Overview

SHIRLEY HEATH JUNIOR SCHOOL - CONTRACT, full time, permanent - Salary band L9-L13 (dependent on experience). Start date 01/09/2026.

We are seeking an exceptional and inspirational Deputy Head Teacher to join our highly successful leadership team. This is a key strategic role for an experienced and ambitious leader who is passionate about excellence in teaching, learning and pastoral care.

Responsibilities
  • Work closely with the Head Teacher, providing strong, visible and values driven leadership across the school.
  • Play a central role in shaping and delivering the school's strategic vision.
  • Ensure consistently high standards across the school.
  • Support staff development through coaching, mentoring and performance management.
  • Contribute to whole school self evaluation and improvement planning.
  • Maintain the highest standards of behaviour, safeguarding, inclusion and pupil wellbeing.
  • Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead (or be willing to train).
Qualifications & Experience
  • Proven track record of outstanding classroom practice.
  • Successful leadership experience in a primary or junior school setting.
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking and the ability to inspire and motivate others.
  • Commitment to equity, safeguarding and the holistic development of every child.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ready to play a significant role in an outstanding school's next stage of development.
