Job Description
Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a Dentist with a Special Interest in Oral Surgery to join our team based in Plymouth. The role will be based in our Plymouth Dental Education Facilities in Derriford and Devonport initially and will transfer to our new Dental Education Practice (DEP) in Plymouth City Centre when this opens. The DEP will provide an innovative model of care comprising urgent and stabilisation dental care, and general and specialist dentistry delivered alongside placements for undergraduate and postgraduate students, as well as trainees undertaking dental foundation training.

This position is for up to 3 days per week, which may be negotiable with the successful candidate.

Responsibilities
  • Contribute to a specialist-led minor oral surgery service, providing treatment on referral to patients under local anaesthetic.
  • Contribute to the organization's urgent care services within Peninsula Dental Social Enterprise CIC (PDSE).
  • Possibly contribute to undergraduate/postgraduate teaching depending on experience, with the primary focus on delivering the oral surgery service.
  • Collaborate within the care model in the DEP to support education and patient care.

PDSE is an award-winning Community Interest Company that provides NHS treatment and outreach services to local communities in Devon and Cornwall. As a social enterprise, we are a values-driven organisation with a focus on patient-centred care and addressing local oral health needs. We work closely with the University of Plymouth's Peninsula Dental School to support the clinical education of its dental healthcare students.

The post holder will be an employee of PDSE and may also hold an Honorary Contract with the University of Plymouth depending on the final job plan.
