DESCRIPTION

We are looking for an enthusiastic Electrical Engineering Apprentice to join our team specializing in Electrical Power System Engineering for our Power Systems Business Unit in the UK, Sandwich office. During your apprenticeship with us, you will learn how a major global organization operates, gaining the tools and exposure you will need to become an expert in the industry and power your potential.

SUMMARY OF COURSE

The Electrical, Electronic Technical Support Engineer Apprentice role is a developmental position within the Cummins Power System Business Unit. During the apprenticeship you will work 5 days per week, studying at Warwick University on a block release scheme attending 1 week per month. The working hours are flexible that suit business needs. On completion of this apprenticeship you will obtain a Bachelor of Engineering degree qualification. Course duration is 42 months followed by a 12-month end point assessment. Please note that you will need to be at the provider's site (Warwick University) for a full week each month and must accommodate this independently.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Diesel Power Generating equipment producing up to 3MW
  • Generator Control Systems
  • Full Authority engine communications
  • LV, HV Alternators sizing and selection
  • Simulation based validation processes
  • Develop generator ancillary systems
QUALIFICATIONS
  • GCSE grades in Math at 6+ and English literature and language at 4+. Physics at a grade 5+ and all additional subjects at grades 4+.
  • Minimum of 112 UCAS points is essential.
  • A level in Maths at B grade or above.
  • Other A Levels or equivalents in Engineering/Physics desirable.
  • Passion and demonstrated interest in Electrical and Electronic systems.
  • Strong mathematics and applied physics skills.
  • Analytical problem solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
