Debt Recovery Officer (Adult Social Care)
Location: Maidenhead (Hybrid Working)
Rate: £15.69 - £17.73 per hour
Contract: Temporary, Immediate Start
Duration: Initially 2 weeks (short-term cover)
We are currently recruiting for a Debt Recovery Officer to join a busy Local Authority team on a short-term basis. This hybrid role will support the collection of Adult Social Care debt and offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced debt recovery professional to make an immediate impact.
The Role
Working alongside the Debt Recovery Officer - Corporate Debt within the Revenues and Benefits service, you will be responsible for ensuring Adult Social Care debt is recovered effectively and in accordance with approved processes, procedures, and council policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and recover Adult Social Care debt in line with council procedures.
- Follow established debt recovery processes and ensure compliance with relevant policies.
- Liaise with service users, representatives, internal departments, and external agencies regarding outstanding debt.
- Monitor aged debt accounts and take appropriate recovery action.
- Maintain accurate records and update relevant systems.
- Support the Revenues and Benefits team with debt management activities.
- Provide professional and sensitive customer service when dealing with debt queries.
About You
We are looking for candidates with:
- Previous debt recovery, income recovery, revenues, benefits, or credit control experience.
- Experience working within a Local Authority, Adult Social Care, or public sector environment is desirable.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Good attention to detail and ability to follow procedures.
- Experience using case management or finance systems.
- The ability to manage a busy workload and prioritise effectively.
