Job Description

dele Carr Recruitment is currently supporting a well-established social housing organisation in the Liverpool City Region to recruit an experienced Data Protection Coordinator on an initial 3-month temporary basis, with the potential to be extended.

This role will support the governance function in ensuring compliance with UK data protection legislation across a complex, customer-focused environment handling high volumes of sensitive tenant and employee data.

This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with governance, compliance or data protection experience looking to make an immediate impact within a regulated sector.

Key ResponsibilitiesCompliance & Governance
  • Support compliance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018

  • Review and maintain data protection policies and procedures

  • Assist with monitoring compliance across operational teams

Data Subject Rights
  • Manage Subject Access Requests (SARs) and other rights-based requests

  • Coordinate responses across housing management, repairs, HR and support services

  • Ensure statutory deadlines are consistently met

Incident & Breach Management
  • Log and investigate data breaches and near misses

  • Support reporting to the Information Commissioner's Office where required

  • Identify root causes and recommend preventative actions

Risk & Project Support
  • Assist with Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs)

  • Maintain Records of Processing Activities (ROPA)

  • Provide input on new systems or service changes to ensure privacy by design

Advisory & Training Support
  • Provide practical data protection advice to managers and colleagues

  • Support delivery of awareness training

  • Promote best practice in handling personal data

The Candidate

We are looking for candidates who can quickly embed into a busy, regulated organisation and provide hands-on support.

Essential
  • Working knowledge of UK GDPR and data protection principles

  • Experience handling SARs and/or data breach investigations

  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail

  • Confident communicator able to liaise across multiple departments

  • Experience within housing, public sector, financial services or another regulated environment

Desirable
  • Experience within social housing

  • Data protection qualification (e.g. Foundation level)

  • Background in governance, compliance or risk
