Job Purpose

The Data Lead is responsible for leading and growing MPM's data capabilities. Managing the data team, overseeing the design, delivery, and governance of data infrastructure, pipelines, and analytics solutions. The Data Lead is also responsible for setting and executing the vision for data within the organisation, enabling accurate, timely, and actionable insights through data practices, collaboration, and strong leadership.

This role deals with a wide variety of tasks including, but not limited to the following:

  • Manage, mentor, and grow the newly formed Data Team to deliver high-quality solutions that meet evolving business objectives.
  • Define and maintain the roadmap for data infrastructure, tools, and quality standards.
  • Lead a data-first culture across the organisation, championing data literacy and self-service capabilities.
  • Represent the Data Team in leadership discussions and ensure alignment with business priorities.
  • Continuously improve data operations, governance, and platform scalability.
  • Oversee the design, development, and optimisation of scalable and reliable data pipelines.
  • Translate business requirements into robust data models, architecture, and reporting frameworks such as Power BI.
  • Ensure the consistency, quality, and accessibility of data throughout the organisation.
  • Maintain and evolve data architecture, including Azure-based lakes, and integrations.
  • Drive the automation of data-driven processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual work.
  • Monitor data platform usage and costs, identifying optimisation opportunities across cloud services.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand analytical needs and deliver actionable solutions.
  • Act as an escalation point for complex data-related issues; ensure timely resolution.
  • Promote documentation standards and ensure data knowledge is shared across the business
  • Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Experience managing teams & cross-functional data projects.
  • Proven experience in data engineering, analytics, or data architecture, with experience leading & mentoring others.
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft Azure (Data Lakes, Blob Storage), Databricks, and modern data stack tooling.
  • Proficiency in SQL and Python for data manipulation and transformation.
  • Familiarity with data visualisation tools such as power BI.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills - able to align people, process, and platform.
  • High attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem solving.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Microsoft Azure Data Engineer Associate or equivalent certification
  • Understanding of data governance, security, and regulatory compliance in data handling.
