About the Opportunity:
Our Client, a Technological Company, is searching for a full-time Data Governor. Working in the Ground Systems department, and reporting to the Head of Data&AI Platform, the Data Governor will lead the Data Governance Framework definition and deployment, to ensure data quality and reliability across all elements of the Company Data&AI platform.
About the Role:
Mission
The Data Governor is a Data&AI specialist role at the Company, that will work closely the Data Platform Architect, the broader Data&AI platform team and data products teams, and the central Cloud IT team. The role is responsible for defining and implementing the company's Data Governance Framework and Data Governance Processes. This role involves defining data governance policies, processes, and standards to ensure effective data management across the organization. The specialist will ensure data quality and reliability across the company, collaborating with other teams and stakeholders to align data governance initiatives with the company's goals, enhancing data accessibility, understanding, and compliance with regulations.
Experience
The ideal candidate will have experience in creating Data Governance Frameworks, leading end-to-end data and governance initiatives, and designing processes to manage data as a valuable asset. The ideal candidate would have experience defining and implementing data governance policies and processes at scale, and for a multi-region and hyperscale (PBs per day) big data cloud-native system.
The specific terms and conditions governing the employment will be set out and formalized in an employment contract executed upon joining the Company, in accordance with the laws of Spain.
Responsibilities
- Development of Data Governance Policies: Create and implement data governance frameworks, policies, and standards to ensure consistent and effective data management for the Data&AI pipeline, data products and across the organization.
- Propose the proper cloud-native tools set to support the defined Data Governance Framework and its implementation at scale.
- Data Quality Assurance: Monitor and improve the accuracy, consistency, and reliability of data. Develop processes to identify and resolve data quality issues.
- Compliance and Security: Ensure adherence to data privacy regulations (e.g., AI Act) and implement measures to protect sensitive data from unauthorized access.
- Collaboration with Stakeholders: Work closely with data owners, IT teams, and business units to align data governance initiatives with organizational goals and requirements.
- Data Classification and Metadata Management: Establish and maintain data classification schemes and metadata repositories to enhance data accessibility and understanding.
- Training and Awareness: Educate employees on data governance policies and best practices. Promote a culture of data responsibility and literacy within the organization.
- Monitoring and Reporting: Track the performance of data governance initiatives using metrics and KPIs. Provide regular reports to stakeholders on data governance progress and challenges.
- Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Conduct data risk assessments and develop strategies to address potential vulnerabilities in data management processes.
- Documentation and Representation: Create detailed documentation of processes and procedures, and represent the Data Governance area in company bodies.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest Data&AI technologies and trends.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or engineering.
- 5+ years of experience in the area of Data Governance, with proven experience developing and deploying Data Governance Frameworks and Data Governance Processes.
- Deep knowledge of cloud services and technologies.
- Deep knowledge in the Data Governance technical ecosystem, being able to assess tools, executing proof of concepts, benchmarking to select the best set of tools for the company.
- Experience with Microsoft Purview or Databricks Unity Catalog.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Experience working with diverse international teams.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, in English.
Required Skills
- Knowledge in defining Data Governance Frameworks for geospatial data.
- Extensive experience with the Azure Cloud and its services.
- Experience with the ESRI or Databricks technology stacks.
- Knowledge in the STAC catalog geospatial open format.
- Relevant certifications in Data Governance Frameworks, e.g. Dama and Data Governance Tools.
- Masters & other higher-level education.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, in English Spanish.
- International work experience.
