We are seeking a Data Engineering Manager to lead our data platform team, develop next-generation data solutions, and shape the future of data at Zoopla.
As a Data Engineering Manager at Zoopla, you will:- Manage and develop a team of 5-8 data and analytics engineers, providing coaching, mentorship, and career development
- Oversee the strategy, delivery, and maintenance of our data platform infrastructure and pipelines, ensuring scalability and reliability aligned with business objectives
- Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Data Science, and Analytics teams to facilitate data-driven decision-making
- Promote modern data engineering practices, including CI/CD, observability, version control, and testing
- Architect and evolve our data platform, including data warehousing (Redshift), lakehouse (Databricks), and orchestration tools (Airflow, Step Functions)
- Lead data governance, cataloging, compliance, and security efforts to ensure trustworthy and well-managed data
- Proven leadership or management experience in a technical role, with responsibility for people and projects
- Hands-on expertise in Python and SQL; experience with Spark and DBT is a plus
- Familiarity with AWS services such as Lambda, S3, Redshift, and Glue; Databricks experience is advantageous
- Experience designing and implementing scalable data platforms and ETL/ELT pipelines
- Knowledge of data warehousing, data lake architectures, and orchestration tools like Step Functions and Airflow
- Experience with infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform)
- Understanding of data governance and quality practices
- Strong communication skills to explain technical concepts and influence stakeholders
- Experience building data pipelines and lakehouse solutions using Databricks on AWS
- Experience leading teams of 5+ data engineers on impactful projects
