Data Engineering Lead

Data Engineering Lead - Contract (OUTSIDE IR35) 6-Month Contract

We are looking for a hands-on Data Engineering Lead to take technical ownership of a cloud-based enterprise data platform within a group organisation. You'll combine strong Azure data engineering skills with technical leadership, mentoring a small team while remaining deeply involved in delivery. 

Key Skills & Experience:

• Microsoft Azure data platforms
• Azure Databricks, SQL & data modelling
• Power BI for analytics and reporting
• Terraform/Infrastructure as Code
• CI/CD with GitHub Actions
• Experience leading or mentoring data engineers

Responsibilities:

• Own the design, build, and operation of the data platform
• Develop and optimise data pipelines and SQL data layers
• Ensure reliable, scalable, and secure data solutions
• Lead engineering standards and best practices
• Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders

Nice to Have:

• Azure monitoring & DevOps tooling
• Data governance and security in Azure
