Job Description

Exciting freelance opportunity with a leading energy infrastructure partner! We're looking for an experienced Data Integration Engineer to contribute to cutting-edge projects in the energy sector, focusing on data-driven solutions for sustainability and operational efficiency.


Logistics:

  • Position: Freelance Data Integration Engineer
  • Duration: 12-Month Contract (strong likelihood of extension)
  • Location: Brussels (Hybrid - 2 days a week)
  • Languages: English AND French or Dutch
  • Day Rate: €(Negotiable & Competitive)
  • Start Date: ASAP


Core Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and implement data pipelines to integrate complex data sources.
  • Ensure scalable, reliable data processing, with a focus on quality and security.
  • Work with microservices and messaging platforms like Kafka and RabbitMQ.
  • Collaborate with product teams to translate business needs into technical solutions.
  • Optimise data storage and ensure non-functional requirements (stability, resilience).
  • Drive data integration efforts within an agile environment, promoting innovation.
  • Document workflows, processes, and system architecture.


Essential Skills:

  • Strong experience with C# and .NET for backend development and integration.
  • Expertise in data pipeline design and flow management.
  • Practical experience with Kafka or RabbitMQ.
  • Familiarity with microservices architecture and cloud-based data tools (e.g., Azure Databricks).
  • Understanding of data storage, performance optimisation, and security.
  • Experience working in an agile environment and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Fluency in English, with French or Dutch a bonus.


Desirable Skills:

  • Knowledge of Azure services (e.g., Azure Functions, Data Factory).
  • Experience with DevOps principles (CI/CD, Git, automated testing).
  • Familiarity with data governance tools (e.g., Data Lineage, Data Quality).
  • Experience with tools like Redis, Neo4j, or Apache Arrow.
  • Power BI experience for data visualisation is a plus.
