Job Description

Job Title: Data Engineer - Azure Platform
 Location: Amsterdam, Netherlands
 Type: Full-Time Hybrid

Overview

We are looking for an experienced Data Engineer to join a growing Data Platform team in Amsterdam. You will play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining an Azure-based data infrastructure that supports large-scale data processing and advanced analytics across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable and secure data pipelines on Azure.

  • Work with Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure Synapse, and other Azure services to ingest, transform, and store data efficiently.

  • Implement infrastructure-as-code using Terraform to ensure consistency and scalability of the platform.

  • Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and other engineers to deliver data products and services.

  • Ensure data quality, governance, and compliance standards are met.

  • Optimize performance and cost-efficiency of data solutions in the cloud environment.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 3+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role.

  • Proven experience with the Azure data ecosystem, including:

    • Azure Data Factory

    • Azure Databricks

    • Azure Synapse Analytics

    • Azure Cloud Services (Storage, Functions, Monitoring)

  • Strong experience with Terraform and infrastructure-as-code in cloud environments.

  • Proficient in Python or Scala for data processing.

  • Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and version control (e.g., Git).

  • Understanding of data governance, privacy, and security practices.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative mindset.

  • Fluent in English; Dutch is a plus.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Delta Lake and Medallion architecture.

  • Knowledge of the financial services or pensions industry.

  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and containerization (Docker/Kubernetes).
