Data Engineer - Talend/Oracle
6-Month Rolling Contract | £400-£460 per day | Telford/Hybrid
We're looking for an experienced Data Engineer to join a major public sector programme supporting the development and delivery of a Data Deletion & Retention project.
This is a 6-month rolling contract, with 2 days per week onsite in Telford and the remainder remote.

- Rate: £400-£460 per day
- Location: Telford - 2 days onsite per week
- IR35: Inside IR35 - Capgemini mandated PAYE only
- Clearance: SC required, although candidates can start with BPSS
- Sector: Public Sector
The Role
You'll work primarily with Talend and Oracle RDS, operating within an established Talend framework and development patterns.
Experience with ETL tooling is essential, with Talend preferred. Experience with Pentaho or Informatica will also be considered as transferable. Strong experience working with Oracle RDS databases is also required.
Key Responsibilities- Develop project artefacts including Talend jobs, Oracle DDL/SQL and GitLab pipeline enhancements
- Investigate and resolve defects and issues identified during testing
- Review development and test artefacts produced by colleagues
- Support production releases and post-release warranty activities
- Conduct component testing, including test data creation
- Support QA teams throughout testing phases and help debug issues
- Create and execute test packs for component test automation
- Support performance testing activities
- Provide technical support and guidance to colleagues
- Mentor junior engineers
- Report to the Lead Engineer and participate in relevant Scrum-of-Scrums discussions
Essential Skills & Experience
- Strong Data Engineering/ETL experience
- Talend experience preferred
- Experience with Oracle RDS
- Strong SQL and database development experience
- Experience with GitLab pipelines
- Experience supporting testing, defect resolution and production releases
- SC Clearance preferred/required, with the ability to start on BPSS
