Data Business Analyst - Contract
Rate: £420 per day Inside IR35
Location: Hybrid - 2 days per week onsite in Southampton (occasional travel)
Start: ASAP
Working pattern: Full time

We are seeking an experienced Data Business Analyst to support the delivery of complex data and systems change initiatives within a large scale environment. This role has a strong data and technical focus and will involve close collaboration with product, data and engineering teams operating within an Agile delivery framework.

You will take ownership of the end to end requirements life cycle, producing development ready user stories supported by detailed data analysis. The role requires someone comfortable working across data architecture, ingestion, quality and migration, while translating business needs into clear functional and data requirements.

Key responsibilities

  • Own and manage the full requirements life cycle including elicitation, analysis, documentation and change control
  • Plan and facilitate workshops, interviews and prototyping sessions
  • Analyse business systems and data sources to inform requirements definition
  • Translate business processes into clear functional and data specifications
  • Produce high quality user stories and backlog items ready for development
  • Support backlog prioritisation alongside product and delivery teams
  • Manage scope and requirements changes during delivery
  • Work closely with data engineers, architects, modellers and QA to ensure shared understanding
  • Ensure documentation meets agreed standards and ways of working
Essential experience
  • Proven experience as a Data Business Analyst on data led initiatives
  • Strong understanding of data architecture, data migration, data quality and information governance
  • Experience with data ingestion processes and ability to read database schemas
  • Knowledge of data modelling techniques including conceptual, logical and physical models
  • Understanding of BI and analytics concepts such as reporting, querying and relational databases
  • Strong experience eliciting requirements via workshops and stakeholder interviews
  • Experience producing artefacts such as use cases, process maps and data flows
Essential skills
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to varied audiences
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills
  • Confident working in Agile delivery environments
Desirable
  • Experience with data visualisation techniques
  • Exposure to system workflows, APIs and functional specifications
  • Experience with marketing technology platforms such as Adobe Campaign or similar
