On behalf of Department of Business and Trade, we are looking for a Data Analyst Inside IR35 for a 6 month contract based hybrid London, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Belfast, Manchester, Birmingham, Darlington
As a Data Analyst, your main responsibilities will be:
SC/DV Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be willing & eligible to undergo checks. Please note, due to the exceptional requirements of this position (short-term nature of this role and speed at which we require a postholder in situ) preference may be given to candidates who meet all of the essential criteria and hold active security clearance.
Key Responsibilities
. Analyse complex datasets to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
. Produce high-quality reporting, dashboards, and visualisations to support decision-making.
. Deliver actionable insights that drive efficiencies, productivity, and organisational growth.
. Work closely with stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into analytical solutions.
. Present findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
. Support Agile delivery teams across multiple workstreams.
. Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve data-related issues.
. Identify and assess new data sources to improve reporting and insight capabilities.
. Ensure data quality, governance, and compliance with departmental standards.
. Support critical transformation activities including service transitions, operating model development, and technology migration planning.
Essential Skills & Experience
. Proven experience as a Data Analyst, Insight Analyst, BI Analyst, or similar role.
. Strong SQL skills for querying and analysing large datasets.
. Experience using Python for data analysis and automation.
. Ability to communicate complex findings to a wide range of stakeholders.
. Experience creating dashboards and data visualisations.
. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
. Experience working within Agile delivery environments.
. Knowledge of data governance, data quality, and data management best practices.
Desirable Skills
. AWS QuickSight experience.
. R programming language.
. R Shiny development.
. Streamlit dashboard development.
. Experience working with cloud-based data platforms.
. Public sector or government experience.
