Job Description

Location: UK - Remote (Must have right to work in the UK)

Reporting to: Director of Data

About the role:

As aData Analystat Mr & Mrs Smiththe priority is todeliver trusted reporting, actionable insights, and robust reconciliation across our core business metrics. This is a mid-level role for an analyst who is confident working with stakeholders, comfortable investigating data discrepancies end-to-end, and able to turn ambiguous questions into clear definitions and repeatable analysis.

A keyinitialfocus of the role is reconciliation: building reliable tie-outs between systems and reports,identifyingand explaining variances, and improving trust inour data and reporting.You'llbe a hands-on analyst, working primarily in Looker(the stack is Snowflake /dbt/ Looker)to create scalable, self-serve reporting with consistent metric definitions.

Responsibilities
  • Build andmaintaindashboards and reporting that support day-to-day decision-making andanalysis
  • Identifyand resolve data discrepancies and adddbttests tomonitordata quality andmaintainbusiness trust
  • Investigate discrepancies between systems, dashboards, and stakeholder reports; quantify impact and communicate clear explanations and next steps
  • Partner with stakeholders to define metrics and business rules, ensuring consistent definitions and reducing "multiple versions of the truth"
  • Document definitions, assumptions, and known limitations so reporting is transparent, audit-friendly, and trusted
  • Work with Data Engineering to resolve recurring data issues by providing clear problem statements, evidence, and recommendations
  • Deliver ad hoc analysis and deep dives with a clear narrative: what happened, why it happened, and what action to take
  • Contribute to a culture of data trust through strong QA habits, attention to detail, and proactive communication
Requirements
  • Demonstrable experienceidentifyingand resolving data discrepancies
  • Strong analytical judgement and comfort with ambiguity, edge cases, and defining metrics that stand up to scrutiny
  • Ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including explaining discrepancies in a structured way
  • Strong attention to detail, exemplary follow-up, and a habit oftesting outputs before sharing
  • Nice to have: Experience with Looker andLookML
  • Nice to have: Experience withdbt
