Job Description
About the role

The Data Analyst will play a key role in supporting the delivery of media-driven performance and effectiveness insights. You'll help provide clear, accessible, and timely data to inform decision-making, drive continuous improvement, and enhance client outcomes. This is a hands on role with plenty of training and support, offering real exposure to client work and analytical techniques from day one. You'll be based at MSQ's London office in Covent Garden typically three days per week, with the flexibility to work from home on the remaining days.

Key responsibilities for this role include:

  • Gather and integrate media performance data from both online and offline sources to support marketing effectiveness analysis, using tools such as Excel, Python, R or SQL as appropriate
  • Help to improve our existing suite of Looker dashboards and build new ones for onboarding new clients
  • Support the setup and analysis of experiments, including A/B and geo based testing, to evaluate campaign impact
  • Assist in the setup, delivery, and ongoing refinement of Econometric Media Mix Models (MMM) and other regression based forecasting tools
  • Interrogate customer data to help clients understand their existing cohorts and build out audiences for future campaigns
  • Serve as a day to day data contact for clients, helping build strong working relationships and developing an understanding of their objectives and challenges
  • Work collaboratively with internal marketing teams to ensure clear, efficient communication from insight brief through to delivery of findings
  • Develop into a technical subject matter expert, supporting both internal teams and clients in getting the most value from their data

The Data Analyst will be expected to demonstrate the following core competencies:

Analytical

You're naturally curious and enjoy digging into data to uncover patterns, trends, and insights. You'll support media effectiveness analysis and learn how to translate data into actionable recommendations that help shape digital media strategies for our clients.

Technical

You have a foundational understanding of data tools and are eager to build your technical skills. With training, you'll support performance analysis and contribute to building automated dashboards and reports that surface key insights.

Commercial

You're interested in how data connects to broader business and marketing goals. You'll learn how to consider the "why" behind the numbers, helping to deliver insights that are not only accurate but also meaningful to clients. Over time, you'll develop the commercial awareness needed to support strategic thinking and effective storytelling with data.

About You

You are an enthusiastic recent graduate from a STEM, Computer Science, or other highly numerate discipline, eager to launch your career in data within the media industry. You're naturally curious, with a strong grasp of numbers and a keen interest in using data to drive real world decisions. You have a genuine interest in marketing theory, advertising effectiveness, and how brands grow. You're comfortable working with large datasets, open to learning new tools and techniques, and able to communicate your findings clearly and confidently to both technical and non technical audiences.

About Your Experience
  • A degree in a STEM subject, Computer Science, or another highly numerate discipline
  • Strong interest in data, analytics, experimentation and marketing, with a desire to develop a career at the intersection of these fields
  • Genuine curiosity about marketing and advertising, including how campaigns work, what makes them effective, and the theories behind brand building and performance marketing
  • Confident communicator, able to explain data driven insights clearly to non technical stakeholders and collaborate effectively with internal teams
  • Comfortable using Excel, with knowledge of key functions such as pivot tables, lookups, and basic formulas
  • Some familiarity with SQL, Python, or R - or a strong willingness to learn and develop technical skills in these areas
  • Enthusiastic, proactive, and collaborative mindset, with a passion for solving problems and working across teams to deliver client value
  • Full of ideas and creative thinking, with a passion for exploring new approaches and contributing fresh perspectives to projects
  • Self motivated and organised, with the ability to manage tasks independently and take ownership of your development
  • High attention to detail and numeracy, with the ability to work accurately and efficiently to tight deadlines
