We're Hiring: Cybersecurity Consultant - EU Research & Innovation Projects

Location: 100% Remote (EU)

RakFort is expanding! As an innovation-driven SME specialising in AI Security, Generative AI Protection, AISecOps, and cybersecurity research, we're seeking an experienced Cybersecurity Expert with EC Project Experience to join us as a Consultant.

About RakFort

RakFort develops advanced AI security solutions-including GuardFort, ModelFort, ScanFort, and RiskFort-to secure generative AI models, pipelines, and enterprise AI deployments. We actively contribute to the European cybersecurity ecosystem through participation in EU-funded projects, research collaborations, and community-driven AISecOps initiatives.

This role combines technical cybersecurity expertise with EU project involvement, supporting proposal preparation, research tasks, technical deliverables, and cybersecurity innovation.

Cybersecurity & AI Security (Technical Work)
  • Support R&D on AI/GenAI security, adversarial ML, and emerging cyber threats.
  • Conduct penetration testing, threat modelling, and AI pipeline vulnerability assessments.
  • Contribute to the development and evaluation of RakFort's AI security tools (GuardFort, ModelFort, ScanFort, RiskFort).
  • Support secure-by-design architectures across AI, IoT, cloud, and data-driven environments.
EU Project & Funding Responsibilities
  • Contribute technical content for EU proposals (DIGITAL, Horizon Europe, etc.).
  • Monitor and analyse funding opportunities across Horizon Europe, regional programmes, and cascade funding mechanisms.
  • Lead the end-to-end proposal preparation process, including consortium building, work plan design, budgeting (as needed), and submission.
  • Align new funding opportunities with RakFort's technology roadmap and business strategy.
  • Develop and maintain strong networks with universities, research centres, SMEs, large industry partners, and public agencies.
  • Represent RakFort at agency meetings, brokerage events, info days, and workshops across Europe.
  • Participate in consortium meetings, technical reviews, and collaborative project sessions.
Project Management & Coordination
  • Support work plan sections, technical deliverables, project reports, and documentation.
  • Coordinate post-award project management activities, including deliverables, reporting, and communication with partners.
  • Ensure structured documentation aligned with EU project standards.
  • Manage internal communication across technical, administrative, and management teams throughout proposal and project phases.

  • This is a contribution-based consultant role, where compensation is linked to the outcome of successful EU project funding
  • Compensation and its model will be discussed in the interview (negotiable).

After successful EC project funding:

RakFort will offer the candidate a full-time position, if the candidate is interested (subject to an agreement which will be drawn up)

VISA sponsorship will be provided for non-EU candidates if the above step is initiated

  • Master's degree with relevant coursework

Specific Requirements
  • Must-Have
  • Strong background in cybersecurity (AI security, penetration testing, adversarial ML, threat analysis, etc.).
  • Experience in EU-funded projects (Horizon Europe, DIGITAL, LIFE, or similar).
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work independently with high-quality output.
  • Strong organisational and documentation skills.
Nice to Have
  • Knowledge of Generative AI security, AISecOps, or adversarial ML.
  • Familiarity with GDPR, EU AI Act, or cybersecurity compliance frameworks.
  • Experience writing or contributing to R&D proposals/deliverables.
  • Collaboration experience with research or industry partners.
