Working Pattern:Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of your time, at our Edinburgh office.

About this opportunity:

We have an exciting opportunity in Insurance, Pensions, and Investments (IP&I) to join our Waterfront Platform as the Lab Product Owner for the Customer Waterfront Lab, reporting to our Business Platform Lead. The lab's purpose is to develop a differentiated digital proposition, transforming how people plan, protect, and save, to secure their financial future.

Using agile methodologies, we iteratively release value for customers and the group, aligning with our purpose of "Help Britain Prosper." The lab and our colleagues make a difference through our work to achieve the right outcomes for customers.

As the Lead Product Owner, you'll define, build, and deliver the Lab's ambitious strategy, working closely with colleagues to ensure success and positively impact customers' financial security.

What you'll be doing:

  • Leadership: Leading the116-colleague-strong lab across Edinburgh and India, collaborating closely with the Engineering Lead.
  • Customer Strategy: Crafting and being responsible for the customer strategy for the digital estate.
  • Direction and Vision: Ensuring teams prioritise the right things to deliver value to customers and collaborators. This will be based on delivering the Digital strategy through its transformational journey, ensuring the team focus on the benefits being released to the customer and the business. This is key for us as we grow and attract customers with new features across our channels.
  • Team Prioritisation: Ensuring Product Owners, Engineering Leads, and Senior Integrators understand priorities and how they individually and as part of teams can add customer value through delivery.
  • Performance Accountability: Accountable for performance against key results, including cost of ownership, backlog delivery, simplification, and customer satisfaction.
  • Risk Management and Culture: Handling risks, aligning vision and roadmap with strategy, and encouraging a collaborative, innovative, and empowered team culture.

What you'll need:

  • Customer and Digital Strategy experience: Proven experience of developing and implementing a customer and digital strategy at scale.
  • Product Owner Experience: Leading the creation and evolution of digital first proposition. Handling a backlog, making priority decisions, and explaining these across various changes. Experience in supervising benefits realization across customer, commercial, and technology changes.
  • Market Understanding: Strong understanding of the UK Pensions, Investment, and Protection Market, acquired through operational and change roles, ensuring delivered features meet industry standards.
  • Resource and Budget Management: Experience in planning and managing resources and budgets, ensuring the production of valuable product features while prioritising and running tasks effectively.
  • Collaborative Leadership: Confirmed experience working closely with collaborators up to director level, leading and running a multi-location delivery team.
  • RAID Management: Understanding RAID management, with proven examples of leading delivery risks and raising them at the appropriate time and level.
  • Technical Understanding: Adequate understanding of technology to assist the team through blockers and ensure efficient solutions within the group's wider IT ecosystem.
