About the Role

Bereavement Services delivers approximately 3,000 burial and cremation services annually across our five cemeteries and one crematorium. The Infrastructure Assistant Manager role sits within the Infrastructure Team, responsible for cemetery management, burial service delivery, and grounds maintenance. This role offers an exciting opportunity to join an award winning team and lead continuous improvement initiatives.

Working hours: 35 hours per week. Full time, permanent contract. Essential car allowance and driver licence required.

Responsibilities
  • Lead, coordinate and supervise the team of Customer Care Officers across two sites, with line management responsibility.
  • Oversee day to day workload, assign tasks and allocate resources as required.
  • Arrange relevant training and development to ensure staff can deliver the highest standards.
  • Conduct performance management discussions and other management tasks.
  • Proactively identify opportunities for service improvement, implement change and streamline processes.
  • Collaborate with Infrastructure teams at all cemeteries and the crematorium to coordinate tasks and ensure efficient delivery of services.
  • Maintain knowledge of processes, guidance and relevant legislation to provide accurate advice to team members and bereaved families.
  • Represent the council as part of the management team, attending and contributing to management meetings.
Qualifications
  • Valid full driving licence; own car provided for essential car use.
  • Previous local government or similar management experience.
  • Strong team work and communication skills, initiative, quick thinking, and problem solving ability.
  • Desirable: experience in Bereavement Services, delivering high quality customer service, knowledge of IT applications such as Word and Excel.
Candidate Profile

Essential: Leadership, coordination, supervision and line management of a customer care team; proactive improvement mindset; teamwork with infrastructure teams; up to date knowledge of legislation and guidance. Desired: Bereavement Service experience, customer service delivery, previous management experience, IT literacy.
