English version : ContextIn the context of the Systems Engineering, you will join the "AMS-DT" service and join the team of "Advanced algorithms of data fusion and autonomous driving", which oversees the development of the new driving assistance systems that will be part of the next vehicles in Renault's series production, all in view of the Autonomous Vehicle development.ObjectivesAutomated driving technologies are getting more complex and increasing their capabilities. The percentage of vehicles that include Advanced Driving Assistance Systems (ADAS) is also growing significantly. Motion planning and vehicle dynamics control algorithms are of the main enablers of these systems, and must guarantee a safe, robust and optimal closed-loop performance despite perturbations and uncertainties. Motion planning systems process the vehicle and environment states, to compute the optimal vehicle kinematic trajectory and execute it, considering design requirements and safety constraints. At the core of motion planning systems are numerical solvers, which are widely used mathematical tools that solve an optimization problem to converge to an optimal solution every execution, respecting imposed state constraints and tracking desired objectives specific to each maneuver.The first objective of this internship is to build an environment to implement and evaluate different available numerical solvers, their benefits and drawbacks. This will serve as the foundation framework upon which we can analyze in detail the performance of each numerical solver with different standard models, optimization problems, objectives and constraints. The second objective of this internship is to integrate the numerical solvers in our main motion planning project used in a Model Predictive Control (MPC) approach to handle the motion planning on the longitudinal axis. The implemented system must be able to handle ACC functional behavior, comprehending use cases such as speed cruise control, car-following, cut-in and cut-out. The internship will hence require strong knowledge of algebra, calculus and robotics, as well as confirmed skills on modelling, programming and simulation.
