Job overview

An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a Critical Care Education band 6 to deliver excellence across two critical care units. This is a pivotal role for an experienced critical care nurse who thrives in complex clinical environments and is passionate about developing the next generation of critical care nurses.

Working across a diverse portfolio of specialist services including Transplant, Oncology, Vascular, Neuro, Neurosurgical and Major Trauma, you will contribute to the educational opportunities and development for critical care nurses. You will support a large number of the CC workforce driving high-quality pre- and post-registration education, workforce development and career progression, alongside policy development and changes to practice.

You will be instrumental in ensuring education delivery aligns with the National Framework for Critical Care Education Standards, embedding evidence-based practice, innovation and continuous improvement. Beyond the organisation you will have an opportunity to network regionally and nationally sharing expertise.

This role offers the chance to:

  • Influence practice across multiple highly specialised clinical pathways
  • Make a tangible, lasting impact on patient outcomes through education excellence

If you are a critical care nurse with an educational vision, this is your opportunity to step into a role where your influence will be felt far beyond the bedside.

Main duties of the job

To work across all Critical Care areas as a practice development nurse facilitating CC3N step 1 to 3 competency completion for all nursing staff, through formal and informal teaching, and standardization of competency assessment.

To facilitate and support the delivery of the Critical Care education programme.

To support the implementation of the Digital Step 1, 2 and 3 project, increasing compliance and timely completion by critical care staff and new starters.

To support and promote the work-based learning and competency completion of nursing staff, by promoting Practice Supervisor and Practice Assessor training, ensuring uptake of these roles is increased, and delivering on their feedback of support required.

Work to review, identify and feedback on strategies to improve student's engagement, learning, assessment and completion of the CC3N Step 1 to 3 competencies.

To work in the clinical environment across critical care.

Act as a link with staff from other areas to share knowledge, best practice and clinical expertise.
