Cover Supervisor

Overview

Cover supervisors are highly trained adaptable school staff who supervise students, helping them carry out pre planned lessons when teaching staff are temporarily absent. The main responsibility of the role is to manage the classroom, helping students remain on track with their learning by ensuring pre planned work has been completed.

This role is an ideal opportunity for individuals seeking experience in a classroom leadership role before pursuing a teaching qualification. It offers the chance to develop leadership, behaviour management, and communication skills within a school setting.

Responsibilities

• Supervise students during the main class to ensure that pupils stay on track with their pre planned lessons.

• Maintain classroom rules and manage behaviour to support a positive learning environment.

• Communicate effectively with learners and colleagues to deliver planned lesson activity.

• A passion for education and working with young people
• High level of literacy and numeracy skills
• Commitment to the progression of education and working within a team
• Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to lead a classroom
