Job Description

Are you an experienced cover supervisor looking for an exciting new role for September or an ECT looking to gain confidence and experience to kick start your school career?

We are working in partnership with a mainstream Secondary school in the St Helens area who are looking to recruit a cover supervisor for the start of the 2026 academic year.

They invite graduates, experienced cover supervisors, and ECT teachers to apply.

The school provides an engaging and nurturing environment for pupils to learn. They focus on pupils' mental health and have a fantastic and established team to provide consistent cover. The school cohort does have moderate number of SEND and additional needs pupils who are working below expected levels. They have a SEND base with fantastic facilities for pupils with additional needs. The school ethos encourages the values of Faith, Hope, and Love at the center of their chaplaincy program.

All successful candidates will require full DofE vetting checks.

Person Specifications:

  • Must have appropriate degree level qualifications and / or experience as a cover supervisor / ECT Teacher
  • Knowledge and experience of covering lessons for Secondary age pupils
  • Must have suitable references within the last 5 years
  • Confident in classroom management and able to use your own initiative
  • Flexible and able to adapt to SEND and additional needs in the classroom
  • Passionate about delivering fun and engaging lessons
  • Desire to make a difference within educational settings
  • DBS on the update service preferred but not essential / be prepared to undertake a full enhanced DBS check prior to placement
  • Have the right to work in the UK

  • Cover Supervisor - Secondary Education
  • Managing and covering a variety of curriculum lessons throughout the school day
  • Manage classroom behaviours and provide consistency for pupils within school

  • Committed to safeguarding protocols
  • Full-time / term time only + 5 inset days
  • Start date September 2026 term
  • Pay scale FTE SCP 12 - £120 to 140 per day
