This post is offered 3 month fixed term contract, working 22.5 hours per week, worked across 3 days on a Monday or Tuesday, Wednesday and the third working day to be agreed. At St Catherines we offer work from home opportunities however this is adaptable depending on business need and regular onsite attendance is required.
Please note, the successful candidate will be an essential car user, therefore candidates must have a full driving licence and access to a vehicle.

St Catherines Hospice is a respected local charity providing specialist hospice care alongside statutory service partners (GPs, District nursing etc) across West Sussex and East Surrey.

Our counsellors work across all areas of hospice care, including the Wellbeing Centre, community settings, and occasionally the inpatient unit, providing flexible and responsive support wherever it is needed.
Job responsibilitiesCounsellor role will bring:
- Providing one-to-one counselling to patients and families.
- Undertaking counselling assessments prior to allocation of clients.
- Working collaboratively as part of the multidisciplinary team.
- Supporting and facilitating patient and bereavement groups.
- Positive team member, contributing to a strong sense of teamwork and accountability
- Understanding of the Values of St Catherines
- Recognised counselling qualification
- BACP or equivalent membership
- Further education or experience in palliative or bereavement care
- Relevant one year post-qualifying experience
- Knowledge and experience of working with people facing life threatening illness and end of life and in bereavement
- Experience working in a health care environment, including inpatient and community settings
