Each year we work with over 1,300 young people aged 11-25 and our employees play a pivotal role in empowering young people and preventing homelessness.
WHAT WOULD A COUNSELLING LEAD BE DOING?
Step by Step is seeking a dedicated Counselling Service Lead to oversee the delivery and development of our emotional well-being service for children and young people (ages 11-18). You'll manage a team of counsellors, ensure clinical effectiveness, safeguarding and maintain high standards of care in line with organisational and national frameworks.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and support a team of counsellors through effective line management and supervision.
- Deliver assessments and short-term counselling interventions.
- Oversee referrals and service delivery in line with safeguarding and clinical best practice.
- Collaborate with external professionals and promote the service in the local community.
- Ensure compliance, and data quality, and contribute to service improvement plans.
WHAT IS STEP BY STEP LOOKING FOR?
- Qualified counsellor/therapist with professional body registration (e.g., BACP, NCS, BABCP).
- Qualified to Level 4 in Counselling.
- Experience working with children and young people.
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and mental health legislation.
- Previous experience of managing a team.
