Location: Cardiff
Contract: Permanent, Full-time
Hours: 35 hours, Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm

Introduction
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an ambitious Costs Lawyer to join us in our Cardiff office as part of our growing Personal Injury team. The successful candidate will work with a high degree of autonomy to deliver specialist costs support across a varied caseload, while also helping shape and develop our costs function in collaboration with colleagues across the firm.

Candidates should be aware that their first day of employment may be based at an alternative Redkite office within our network, for group onboarding. A willingness to travel and spend the day away from your usual place of work is therefore required.
What WillYou Be Doing?
- Manage a varied caseload of costs matters across Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence claims, supporting cases from budgeting through to recovery.
- Prepare Bills of Costs, Costs Budgets (Precedent H), Budget Discussion Reports (Precedent R), Precedent S documents, and other key costs-related documentation.
- Draft and respond to Points of Dispute and Points of Reply, ensuring compliance with CPR, case law, and costs management protocols.
- Negotiate costs settlements with opponents, third parties, and costs firms, while advising fee earners and partners on costs strategy and recovery.
- Attend Detailed Assessment hearings and CCMCs where required, including preparing hearing bundles, statements of costs, and supporting documentation.
- Provide guidance and support to colleagues on costs issues and best practices, while contributing to training, reporting, and the continuous development of costs processes across the firm.
Who We'reLooking For:
- Qualified Costs Lawyer and experience handling costs matters within Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence claims.
- Strong technical knowledge of costs law and procedure, including costs budgeting, detailed assessment, dispute resolution, and recovery processes, with excellent drafting, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
- Confident advising fee earners and stakeholders on costs strategy, with strong communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships across the firm.
- Experience using costs software and case management systems, with familiarity with CostsMaster considered advantageous.
- Proactive, organised, and self-motivated, with a keen eye for detail and the ability to contribute to the growth and development of a costs function.
