Core Subject Tutor - L1, Merseyside

Location: L1, Merseyside
Hours: Part-Time, School Hours (Weekdays)
Pay: £25 - £30 per hour, dependent on experience and qualifications

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Core Subject Tutor to provide tailored educational support to learners in the L1 area of Merseyside. This rewarding role involves delivering personalised tuition during weekday school hours, helping students improve their understanding of core subjects while supporting those with SEN.

You will work closely with learners to build confidence, overcome barriers to learning, improve academic attainment, and foster a positive attitude towards education. The role may involve supporting students with a range of needs, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and other learning difficulties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver engaging 1:1 tuition sessions in core subjects, including English, Maths, and Science.
  • Adapt teaching strategies to meet individual learning needs and SEN requirements.
  • Assess students' abilities and create personalised learning plans.
  • Plan and adapt lessons to suit different abilities and learning styles.
  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records.
  • Build positive and supportive relationships with students, families, and relevant professionals.
  • Encourage student engagement, confidence, independence, and resilience.
Requirements
  • Minimum 1 year of teaching or tutoring experience within the UK.
  • Experience teaching or tutoring core subjects.
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN.
  • Strong understanding of the UK curriculum.
  • Ability to deliver personalised and differentiated learning.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Right to work in the UK.
Desirable
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), PGCE, or relevant teaching/tutoring qualification.
  • Experience supporting students with SEND, SEMH, or those out of mainstream education.
  • Previous experience delivering 1:1 tuition.
  • Knowledge of EHCPs and targeted intervention strategies.
