Cook - Hospital Setting (Newry)

Location: Newry
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Contract: Full-time
Shifts:

• 6:30am - 2:30pm
• 9:15am - 5:15pm
• 10:30am - 6:30pm
• Includes working every other weekend

Pay Rates:

• Monday - Friday: £12.75 per hour
• Saturday: £17.22 per hour
• Sunday: £21.55 per hour

About the Role

We are seeking a reliable and experienced Cook to join our catering team within a busy hospital setting in Newry. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to patient care by preparing high-quality, nutritious meals in a fast-paced and rewarding environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals in line with dietary requirements and hospital standards
• Ensure food is prepared, presented, and served to a high standard
• Follow strict food hygiene and health & safety procedures
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen and work areas
• Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering supplies
• Ensure compliance with food safety legislation (HACCP)
• Work collaboratively with kitchen and catering staff
• Support the delivery of meals to wards where required
• Adapt menus for special dietary needs (e.g. allergens, soft diets)

Essential Criteria

• Previous experience as a Cook is essential
• Strong knowledge of food hygiene and safety standards
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
• Good organisational and time management skills
• Flexibility to work a rota that includes weekends and varied shifts
• Team player with a positive attitude and strong work ethic
