Job Description

We are looking for a CEM/Senior Engineering Manager to join our Infrastructure Rail team located in Manchester. The purpose of the role is to be responsible for setting up, implementing and delivering the Engineering and Design Management Activities for the project or portfolio of projects you are appointed to.

What you'll do:
  • Setup and develop Engineering and Design Management Plans, tools and process for the project.
  • Undertake CEM (Contract's Engineering Manager) duties for the project or portfolio of projects that you are appointed to.
  • Management and co-ordination of the Engineering and Design Management Team to ensure that the works are assured in line with Network Rail Standards and delivered in accordance with the project programme and budget.
  • Assess and appoint qualified CREs and technical leads while mentoring CEMs and CREs for future leadership.
  • Lead the Design Management for all design activities on your project. Monitor design maturity, support commercial teams in developing strategies and price submissions, and provide technical reports for both internal and external project period reporting.
  • Ensure construction input for a right first time, constructable design by collaborating with construction teams and managing subcontractor ECI elements as needed.
  • Appoint a Temporary Works Co ordinator and manage Temporary Works per Skanska procedure.
What you'll bring to the role:
  • Experience of undertaking the CEM role in accordance with NR/L2/RSE/02009.
  • Experience of the delivery and assurance of design, construction and handback of works in accordance with Network Rail or similar Rail sector standards on similar scale or complexity.
  • Experience of leading and managing Technical teams.
  • Experience and ability of developing Engineering Management procedures and systems, including using digital systems and field tools.
  • Be a Chartered Engineer.
