Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Contaminated Land Consultant to join our growing Geotechnical team. This role will see you overseeing contaminated land assessments and remediation strategies, and liaising with client teams, regulators and multidisciplinary project teams.

You will be supporting and delivering a wide range of contaminated land risk management services-from early stage desk studies through to site investigation, risk assessment, material management and remediation.

This role is ideal for someone with a strong technical foundation who is ready to take ownership of projects and help shape the direction of our environmental services.

Role and responsibilities
  • Lead and interpret environmental and geotechnical site assessments, including planning, supervising intrusive investigations, and coordinating contractors.
  • Complete contaminated land risk assessments aligned with UK guidance and produce clear, commercially focused technical reports.
  • Develop material management plans and robust remediation strategies, overseeing on site works and preparing verification reports.
  • Conduct environmental due diligence to identify potential liabilities and site constraints.
  • Manage small-medium projects from inception to delivery, ensuring budget, programme, and quality requirements are met.
  • Build strong relationships with clients, regulators, and teams while mentoring junior staff and promoting technical excellence.
Criteria
  • Degree in environmental science, geology, earth sciences or a related discipline.
  • Strong experience in Phase I and II assessments, site investigation and remediation strategies.
  • Demonstrated capability in contaminated land and environmental risk assessment.
  • Excellent communication, reporting and project management skills.
  • Chartered status (e.g. CEnv, CGeol) or working towards chartership (desirable).
  • Familiarity with UK environmental regulations and industry guidance.
