Responsibilities
  • Managing day to day client portfolio tasks for consultants
  • Calculating benefits for pension plan members and performing individual calculations such as transfer values, net present values, severance calculations, and early retirement calculations
  • Assessing the solvency and funding levels of defined benefit pension schemes
  • Explaining membership movement between valuation periods
  • Liaising with the Lisbon team throughout the valuation process
  • Calculating company accounting disclosures and uploading results to Mercer Globe
  • Preparing quarterly Aspire reports and other client material
  • Supporting investment consultants with ad hoc client or member queries
  • Reviewing lifestyle strategy suitability (annuity/ARF/cash endpoints)
  • Assisting client managers in preparing meeting materials for Investment Committee and Trustee Meetings
  • Participating in project work (e.g., risk management exercises, redundancy projects)

Requirements / Qualifications
  • Working towards, or planning to work towards, an actuarial qualification
  • Strong working relationships with colleagues and clients
  • Excellent written and oral communication, with keen attention to detail
  • Interest in pensions, investment markets, and asset classes
  • Ability to manage simultaneous projects and meet multiple deadlines
  • Analytical skills and the ability to interpret results and ask relevant questions
  • Proactive and goal oriented mindset
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
