Consultant Radiologist - Oncology & Cancer Imaging

Closing date: 11 May 2026

This is a replacement post in the Imaging service - Clinical Support & Imaging Management Group (CSI CMG). The successful candidate will join an established team of oncology and gastrointestinal (GIGU) radiologists, supporting clinicians and delivering acute and elective imaging in specialist and general radiology areas across UHL. The role includes a diagnostic oncology/abdominal reporting rota, emergency imaging provision, and participation in the UHL on call rota. The post is full time; however, personal reasons permitting, a suitable candidate could be considered for a part time arrangement after discussion with colleagues.

Main duties
  • Programmed activities in oncology and gastrointestinal imaging, including development of the service in line with local needs and trust plans.
  • Support imaging in oncology and haematology and assist oncologists with radiotherapy planning.
  • Review emergency oncology imaging performed within and out of hours.
  • Lead or participate in MDTs, e.g., lymphoma/myeloma.
  • Contribute to interventional imaging lists (US and CT guided biopsies/drainages) where suitably skilled.
  • Provide in patient ultrasound imaging as required.
  • Train specialist registrars (East Midland Deanery South) and supervise junior medical staff, radiographers, and sonographers.
  • Support research, teaching, audit, quality improvement, and administrative duties.
  • Take part in the diagnostic on call rota and weekend radiological support for the service.
Training & Qualifications
  • MBBS or equivalent.
  • Full GMC registration.
  • Fully accredited for higher specialist training or eligibility for the Specialist Register within 6 months of interview.
  • FRCR or equivalent.
  • Membership of relevant specialist societies or associations.
Experience
  • Fully trained in oncology and cancer imaging.
  • Clinical knowledge and sound judgment in oncology imaging.
  • Demonstrated analytical thinking and evidence based practice.
  • Commitment to clinical research and specialty interest in oncology imaging.

Salary

£109,725 to £145,478 per year (salary range based on post level).
