We are seeking an enthusiastic and forward-thinkingConsultant Radiologists specialising in MSK imaging to join our expanding team at St Richards or Worthing / Brighton Hospitals.

The role requires a thorough grounding in radiology including ultrasound and cross sectional skills. In addition the post holder will be required to perform ultrasound guided joint injections as part of their job plan.

An interest in paediatric imaging would be desirable as we enhance our children's and young people's imaging pathways.

Main duties of the job

Main Duties

The clinical duties of the post include the following:

• General elective and acute (hot) reporting
• Ultrasound - subspeciality scanning including joint injections
• MDM
• Sub-speciality reporting
• Participation in on-call service
• Supervision of radiology trainees

Teaching and training are an integral part of the role with rotating radiology trainees and speciality training.

Job responsibilities

Work Pattern & Flexibility

• 10 PA baseline job plans (8.5 DCC / 1.5 SPA) with negotiation for additional SPAs considered
• Participation in oncall rota for general Radiology is required

Person Specification Experience / Qualifications

• o Full GMC Registration with a licence to practice
• o CCT in Radiology or equivalent (equivalence must be confirmed by GMC by date of AAC)
• o Entry onto the GMC Specialist Register or eligibility for entry within 6 months of the date of the AAC
• o Higher Degree
• o Distinctions, Scholarships, prizes, other degrees eg BSc, MSc, MS

Clinical Skills and Experience

• o Broad experience of general acute diagnostic imaging (including trauma CT) and general outpatient imaging
• o Good cross-sectional skills in body and emergency imaging
• MSK - Ability to perform US guided injections
• o Audited outcomes of subspeciality
• o Experience of paediatric imaging

Organisation and planning

• o Experience and ability to work in multi-professional teams.
• o Understanding of: NHS / Clinical governance / Resource constraints
• o Evidence of managerial skills: Achievements / Course attended

Teaching Skills

• o Evidence of an interest and commitment to teaching
• o Recognised teaching qualification

Academic and Research

• o Evidence of participation in audit
• o Research experience
• o Publications
• o Prizes and honours

Personal Attributes

• o Evidence of:- Good communication skills both oral and written
