Consultant Radiologist with an Interest in Chest
Job OverviewWe are looking for an enthusiastic consultant with a specialist interest in Chest radiology to join the high quality, dynamic Radiology department at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals. This position is a Consultant grade (NHS Medical & Dental) under a permanent contract, full time, with flexible working options.
Main DutiesThe Radiology department is progressive and forward thinking. Key responsibilities include:
- Providing general radiology service with an emphasis on chest
- Participating in duty session on call (1 in 14)
- Supporting and developing subspecialist interests throughout your career with us
- Involvement in capital replacement programmes, including new CT scanners at DRI and replacements of MRI and CT scanners at Bassetlaw
- Working flexibly, including one day per week home working on a standard 10 PA job plan
- Accessing images out of hours from consultant homes via PACS workstations; CT scans after 8.30 pm weekdays and 6 pm weekends are outsourced
- FRCR or equivalent
- On the specialist register for Radiology, or within 6 months of admission to the register for trainees in the UK; all other categories of doctors must be eligible to be on the GMC specialist register (evidence required prior to commencement)
- Hold a Licence to Practise
- High level of clinical experience and competence in all aspects of General radiology with a Special interest in NM/Chest/Urology/Oncology; ARSAC licence holders will be given preference
- Ability to offer expert clinical opinions on a range of problems within the specialty
- Wide based experience in Radiology
- Knowledge of current issues within General radiology with a Special interest in Chest and the future direction of the specialty
- Understanding of current issues within the wider NHS
- Demonstrated ability to work with and lead others across professions
- Attendance at a recognised management course
- Experience and enthusiasm for clinical teaching of postgraduate doctors and non medical staff
- Academic achievements or evidence of familiarity with research methods resulting in publications
- Training in clinical and educational supervision
- Attendance at a teaching course
- Formal qualification in teaching/education
- Knowledge of Audit principles and evidence of participation in and completion of audit projects, and implementation of outcomes
- Critical appraisal skills
- Knowledge of research methodology
- Ability to use IT systems - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
- Evidence of innovation
- Evidence of continual learning and development
- Self awareness of strengths and weaknesses and impact of behaviour on others
- Access to own transport
- Eligibility to work in the UK
- Ability to work in various locations within the Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching NHS Foundation Trust network
- For areas requiring EPP Clearance (Exposure Prone Procedures), this will also be a requirement of the health screening
