Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a full time appointment for a consultant psychiatrist to work in the well established MentalHealth Liaison Team based at Fairfield General Hospital. This is a substantive appointment. The appointee will have a lead role in consolidating the developments that have occurred within this service recently, helping the service continue to develop in order to meet the 'Core 24' standards defined by the Department of Health.

The out of hours on call frequency is low (1 in 30) with full second tier cover and 1 day off afterwards.

Main duties of the jobThese include clinical, liaison, educational, managerial and service evaluation roles. Clinical work will include assessment and interventions with patients in the acute trust and involve working with an expanding multidisciplinary liaison mental health team.
The team will promote the development of skills in this area within the acute trust and pathway development.

Essential qualifications:
- MBChB or MBBS.
- Fully Registered with GMC licence to practice.
- On GMC Specialist register.
- AC approval or able to achieve within 3 months.
- Section 12 approval.
- MRCPsych or equivalent.
- Additional qualifications.
- Holds and will use valid UK driving licence OR provides evidence of proposed alternative.
- Able to meet duties under MHA and MCA.
- Excellence in working extensively in multi disciplinary teams at ST4 6 or consultant level.
- Experience in liaison.
Applicants must be on the GMC's specialist register or eligible for inclusion, or be within six months of an anticipated award of a certificate of completion of training (CCT) in general Adult Psychiatry or dual CCT a/a at the time of interview for the post.
Applicants must have a CCT in adult or a dual in adult and old age psychiatry and experience of working in an acute hospital setting. An endorsement in liaison psychiatry is desirable but not essential. Applications are welcome from those who want to work part time. Section 12 and AC approval are a necessity.
You will have relevant professional qualifications in line with the 'essential' elements of the person specification and a CV demonstrating a wide range of 'essential and desirable' skills in terms of qualifications, clinical skills, knowledge and experience as well as academic skills and lifelong learning detailed in the attached job description.
