EPUT is looking to appoint an enthusiastic Consultant Psychiatrist to join our Specialist Mental Health Recovery service, based at Latton Bush, Harlow. The post covers the North Harlow primary care networks and is part of the West Essex Integrated Care System. PCN clinics are being developed and will replace the current referral system with a First Response Team. Currently, consultants provide consultative input to PCN MHPs and direct patients into clinics when secondary care is indicated. This arrangement will evolve as the transformation progresses.

Main duties of the job

The team offers community services for patients referred by GP surgeries within Harlow North's Neighbourhood teams, serving an adult population of around 21,000. The post holder will be part of the senior management team and play a key role in developing and improving the service.

The post-holder is expected to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, providing a 7-day, 24-hour service throughout the year.

You must have full GMC registration and be on the Specialist Register, with an appropriate CCT or equivalent, or be within six months of obtaining your CCT at the time of appointment.

Job responsibilities
  • Provide consultant input and Responsible clinician duties for community patients.
  • Deliver high-quality mental health assessments and evidence-based treatments.
  • Establish and maintain a reliable work schedule in collaboration with the team.
  • Coordinate patient care with community and inpatient colleagues.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in the electronic patient record system.
  • Liaise with primary care regarding physical health, mental health, and social needs.
  • Coordinate support and management across services based on patient needs.
Person Specification Transport
  • Hold and use a valid UK driving license or provide alternative evidence.
Qualifications
  • MB BS or equivalent.
  • Postgraduate degree in medical education, research, or management.
  • Registered with GMC with a license to practice, on the Specialist Register with General Adult Psychiatry qualifications, or within six months of registration.
  • Postgraduate qualification in psychiatry (MRC Psych or equivalent).
Eligibility
  • GMC registration with a license to practice at appointment.
  • On the GMC Specialist Register or within six months.
  • Approved clinician status or able to achieve within 3 months.
  • Approved under S12 or able to achieve within 3 months.
  • In good standing with GMC regarding warnings or conditions.
Clinical Skills, Knowledge & Experience
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
  • Ability to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty.
