Consultant Psychiatrist to join the mental health team at HMP Gartree, a Category B prison located in Market Harborough, Leicestershire. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to deliver psychiatric support to adult male inmates, primarily aged 28-50, many with complex mental health and trauma needs.
Job SummaryFull time equivalent of 20 hours per week, with flexible rosters across 2-2.5 days or a rolling rota (2 days one week, 3 days the next). Additional sessions may be offered at HMP Stocken or HMP Five Wells for those seeking full time.
SalaryAnnual salary up to £186,480 per annum, FTE, dependent on experience.
Responsibilities- Provide excellent clinical care, assessment and treatment to patients on the case load onsite.
- Actively participate in the strategic direction of the mental health service, lead senior mental health clinicians on service developments and provide clinical supervision.
- Work within the multidisciplinary team to review referrals, determine appropriate treatment plans, conduct risk assessments and engage in multi professional complex case reviews.
- Deliver non judgemental care, ensuring safety, quality and patient centred outcomes while meeting CQC requirements.
- Inspire excellence in colleagues, promote best practice and continuous quality improvement, and share knowledge and skills with clinical and non clinical staff.
- Registered professional with current GMC registration.
- Specialist registration in General Adult or Forensic Psychiatry.
- Approved under section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act 1983.
- Understanding of the complexities of multi disciplinary and multi agency working.
- Up to date knowledge in adult psychiatry and personality disorders.
- Awareness of current issues in mental health service provision, policy and legislation.
