We have an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join our healthcare team at HMP Belmarsh. HMP Belmarsh is a category A Prison located in South East London. The prison houses around 675 patients with a variety of needs including highly complex and acute mental health conditions. In this role you will be supporting a number of high profile patients across our general population and 33 bed inpatient ward services.
We are looking for a dynamic Psychiatrist, who can be flexible in the way they work and adapt quickly. You must be able to build a rapport with both officers and patients, as well as work alongside the matrons to lead the teams.
HoursMonday to Friday, 9am-5pm. We may also be able to offer this role part time if working across Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
SalaryThis position is a part time role; you'll receive an annual salary up to £196,840 per annum FTE - depending on experience.
How will we support you?- You will be part of a team of 20 plus experienced and supportive Consultant psychiatrists
- You will be able to attend monthly Consultant's meetings and 1:1 clinical supervision

Candidates are required to have a Legal right to work in the UK and due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks
What you'll be doingAs a Consultant Psychiatrist, your responsibilities will vary. You will:
- Provide excellent clinical care, assessment and treatment to patients on the caseload onsite
- Actively participate in the strategic direction of the mental health service, lead the senior mental health clinicians on service developments and provide clinical supervision
- Work within the multi-disciplinary team to review referrals, determine appropriate treatment plans, conduct risk assessments, and engage in multi-professional complex case reviews

Qualifications required- Registered professional with current registration (GMC)
- Specialist Registration in General Adult or Forensic Psychiatry
- Approved under section 12(2) of the MHS 1983
- Understanding of the complexities of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working
- Up to date knowledge in adult psychiatry and PD
- Awareness of current issues in mental health service provision, policy and legislation
