Consultant Psychiatrist

Due to the upcoming recategorisation to a Category B Remand Prison, we have an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team at HMP Brixton.
HMP Brixton will be a Category B male prison from April 2025, housing men on remand. Our patients' needs will vary greatly, with a focus on mental health, substance misuse, and early days in custody.
Hours
We are looking for coverage of 3 days per week, with flexibility in choosing days from Monday to Friday.
This is a part-time position working 24 hours per week. The annual salary is up to £190,000 full-time equivalent per annum, depending on experience.

Candidates must have the legal right to work in the UK. Due to the role's nature, employment offers are subject to vetting and security checks.
Main duties of the job- Provide excellent clinical care, assessment, and treatment to patients on the caseload onsite
- Participate in the strategic direction of the mental health service, lead senior mental health clinicians on service development, and provide clinical supervision
- Work within a multidisciplinary team to review referrals, determine treatment plans, conduct risk assessments, and engage in complex case reviews

Qualifications required- Registered professional with current GMC registration
- Specialist Registration in General Adult or Forensic Psychiatry
- Approved under section 12(2) of the MHS 1983
- Experience working in a prison environment
- Understanding of multidisciplinary and multi-agency working complexities
- Up-to-date knowledge in adult psychiatry and personality disorder (PD)
- Awareness of current mental health service policies and legislation
