Overview

Consultant Psychiatrist - Female Eating Disorders. We are seeking an experienced full-time Consultant Psychiatrist to work at Cygnet Hospital Ealing and provide senior medical cover on the Sunrise Ward, a 14-bed highly specialised eating disorder service for women.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be the Responsible Clinician and have overall medical responsibility for patient treatment, supervising ward inpatients as required and auditing the medical services rendered in line with GMC standards and other relevant professional guidelines. They will work closely with the multi-disciplinary team (psychologists, occupational therapists, registered mental health nurses, social workers, etc.) to deliver a collaborative, phased treatment pathway focused on attaining a healthy BMI and preparing for a return home. They will act as a positive role model toward patients, families, visitors and staff.

We are seeking an experienced full-time Consultant Psychiatrist who will work at Cygnet Hospital Ealing and provide senior medical cover on Sunrise Ward, our 14-bed highly specialised eating disorder service for women.

We offer £5,000 welcome bonus for this post. The Sunrise Ward provides a highly specialised eating disorder service for women, including those with extremely low BMIs. We focus on helping individuals attain a healthy BMI and prepare for a return to home. The service offers a phased treatment pathway, emphasising collaborative treatment with the women we support and driven by multidisciplinary understanding, support and interventions. The post holder will be the Responsible Clinician and will oversee and maintain the care of all ward inpatients, with auditing of medical services in line with GMC standards.

Sunrise Ward provides a collaborative treatment approach and includes a Specialty Doctor and first-class multidisciplinary team including qualified nurses, psychologist and occupational therapist. Main duties and responsibilities include leading high quality care, acting as a role model, taking overall responsibility for patient treatment plans with the MDT, assessing referrals and mental state examinations, conducting investigations, diagnoses and treatments, conducting ward rounds and audits, implementing risk assessment and governance, supervising reports for Mental Health Act tribunals, liaising with the Ministry of Justice for transfers and leave, maintaining patient records, maintaining regular communication with Site Medical Director and Hospital Manager, and contributing to CPD and professional standards.
