Consultant Paediatrician with special interest in Neonatology

We are seeking a consultant colleague with expertise in neonatology that could augment the currentprovision of services within the department. The successful applicant should have extensive experienceof neonatology evidenced by a certificate of neonatal subspecialty training, SPIN module in neonatologyor evidence of equivalent experience.
The successful candidate is expected to provide a strong visible presence across the organisation, be arole model of good leadership and effective communication at individual, team, directorate andorganisation level. He/ she is expected to help shape the development of the department and to sharethe long term vision for a safe and sustainable service, in line with the current developments.

In line with this policy community and acute Paediatric serviceswere both brought into the newly formed Integrated Women, Children & Sexual Health directorate in2012.
Job responsibilitiesThe post will be based at Croydon University Hospital. The proposed Job Plan is attached. There will bean average of 8 Programmed Activities of Direct Clinical Care, with the remainder being allocated forSupporting Professional and/or other Activities.
Please note that job plans are subject to review by your clinical head of service and clinical director onan annual basis, or sooner should changes be requested/required.As a senior employee of the Trust you will work in close co-operation with, and support other clinical,medical professional and managerial colleagues in providing high quality healthcare to the Trustspatients. Integral to these responsibilities is the following: The provision of a first class clinical service Effective leadership to all staff engaged in the specialty Sustaining and developing teaching and research in conjunction with Croydon Health Services Undertaking all work in accordance with the Trusts procedures and operating policies Conducting clinical practice in accordance with contractual requirements and within theparameters of the Trusts service plans Maintaining the confidence of business plans and development strategies formulated for thespecialty, the Care Group or the Trust
Person Specification Qualifications- MBBS or equivalent MRCPCH
- Eligible for inclusion on the Specialist Register within 6 months of interview, as a Paediatrician.
- Minimum one year middle grade neonatal training at a tertiary neonatal unit in ST6-8
- Higher degree (MD, PhD or equivalent)
- Subspecialty certificate of completion in neonatology or SPIN module in neonatology
- Full registration with the GMC or within six months of CCT a time of scheduled interview. Note CESR applications must be on the Specialist Register at the Point of application.
- Broad Neonatal and General Paediatric experience and understanding of Clinical Governance
- Resuscitation of sick infants and children
- Adequate training in Child Safeguarding
- APLS and/or NLS instructor status
- Sub-specialty syllabus.

- Able to demonstrate leadership capability within multi-disciplinary teams
- Experience in day to day organisation of services in a busy teaching hospital
- Formal management training
- Involvement in setting up services and service delivery
