Job Description
Consultant in Stroke Medicine (5 PAs Available)

NHS Tayside, Ninewells Hospital and Medical School, Dundee, is inviting applications for a Consultant in Stroke Medicine role. The successful applicant will be based within the Stroke team at Ninewells Hospital, Dundee.

The Stroke Service in NHS Tayside has undergone significant centralisation, with stroke admissions now managed through a Hyper Acute Stroke Unit at Ninewells. This has delivered measurable improvements in care and created a sustainable staffing model. Ninewells is progressing to become the Thrombectomy Centre for the North of Scotland, delivering 24/7 service. The role will involve working with an interdisciplinary team, including Interventional Radiology colleagues, to develop and deliver this new service.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Participation in the evening on call rota for the stroke service
  • Contribution to the Acute Medical Unit rota
  • Engagement in postgraduate training and education activities
  • Opportunities to collaborate on research and quality improvement projects
  • Involvement in redesigning adult models of care with a focus on rehabilitation pathways
Qualifications and Requirements
  • MRCP and confirmed on the GMC Specialist Register in Stroke Medicine and General Medicine, or within 6 months of the anticipated award of CCT, or already in possession of CESR (CP) at interview
  • Less than full time applications will be considered
Work Hours

Hours of work: 5 PAs (20 hours) per week.
