Job Description
Consultant in Special Care Dentistry

The Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an enthusiastic and forward thinking Consultant in Specialist Dentistry to join our Community Dental Service (CDS), working across both our Northern and Eastern localities. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key clinical and strategic role within a dynamic, patient centred service dedicated to improving oral health outcomes for individuals with additional needs, complex medical conditions, and those who face barriers accessing mainstream dental care.

The closing date is 17 March 2026

As a senior clinical leader within the CDS, you will provide expert consultant level care, supporting the delivery of high quality specialist dental services, including assessment, treatment planning and complex clinical interventions. You will work closely with our experienced dental team-dentists, therapists, nurses and wider multidisciplinary team-to ensure safe, effective and compassionate care across all community settings.

In addition to your clinical responsibilities, you will take on a pivotal leadership role as the Audit and Governance Lead for the Community Dental Service. You will oversee the development, implementation and monitoring of clinical audit, quality improvement and governance structures across both sites, ensuring robust systems are in place to drive safety, quality and continuous service improvement. You will contribute to service development, pathway redesign and the Trust's wider governance agenda, providing specialist advice to dental and healthcare colleagues.
