Hours: 10PA's / 40 hours per week (40 hour week in full time equivalent)

Salary: £111,430 - £148,064 per annum pro rata

Overview

NHS Highland is seeking a third Breast Surgeon to join our multidisciplinary team and replace a colleague retiring this year. Within the Highland Breast Centre in Inverness we host the North of Scotland Breast Screening Service which screened 14,000 women last year and provide a specialist symptomatic service for the populations of NHS Highland and NHS Western Isles. The Centre manages around 300 new breast cancer diagnoses each year.

Responsibilities
  • Provide the surgical service for the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer patients.
  • Deliver oncoplastic breast surgery - experience strongly desirable.
  • Co operate with the multi-disciplinary team to manage screening and symptomatic patients.
  • Support and mentor non medical staff and nurses, contributing to a high quality patient focused service.
  • Engage in teaching and research activities in partnership with the University of Aberdeen.
  • Participate actively in regional collaborations as part of the North Cancer Alliance and the North of Scotland Breast Screening Service.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Board certified consultant breast surgeon (or equivalent).
  • Strong background in breast surgery with an emphasis on oncoplastic techniques preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a multi disciplinary team and to lead by example.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and learning.
