Salary: £111,430 - £148,064 per annum pro rata
OverviewNHS Highland is seeking a third Breast Surgeon to join our multidisciplinary team and replace a colleague retiring this year. Within the Highland Breast Centre in Inverness we host the North of Scotland Breast Screening Service which screened 14,000 women last year and provide a specialist symptomatic service for the populations of NHS Highland and NHS Western Isles. The Centre manages around 300 new breast cancer diagnoses each year.
Responsibilities- Provide the surgical service for the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer patients.
- Deliver oncoplastic breast surgery - experience strongly desirable.
- Co operate with the multi-disciplinary team to manage screening and symptomatic patients.
- Support and mentor non medical staff and nurses, contributing to a high quality patient focused service.
- Engage in teaching and research activities in partnership with the University of Aberdeen.
- Participate actively in regional collaborations as part of the North Cancer Alliance and the North of Scotland Breast Screening Service.
- Board certified consultant breast surgeon (or equivalent).
- Strong background in breast surgery with an emphasis on oncoplastic techniques preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work within a multi disciplinary team and to lead by example.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and learning.
